§02 — The Superior Standard

Built to specification.

Every SteelPaws object is engineered against three fixed criteria to eliminate the failure modes of standard materials.

01 — Hygiene

Zero-porosity surface.

Stainless steel does not harbor organic residue or odor. There is no molecular surface for bacteria to colonize.

Bacterial Adhesion
0.0%

02 — Endurance

Structural permanence.

Built for a 40-year duty cycle. 304-grade construction resists chemical fatigue and mechanical warping.

Operational Life
40+ years

03 — Thermal

Thermal regulation.

Passive heat dissipation holds water four degrees below ambient — constant cooling without electronics or insulation.

Thermal Differential
Δ −4 °C

End of life Landfill Fully recyclable

§05 — Origin

Why I started this.

I grew up in Jakarta, where Milo was my whole world.

He was a golden retriever — always moving, always up for another run, always ready for whatever came next. I was eight years old and he was my first dog, and I loved him the way kids do: completely, and without thinking too hard about it. We'd play until we were both exhausted, and I'd reward him without a second thought. That was just how it was.

I moved to Melbourne for university in 2017, and the city quietly changed the way I see things. Coming from Jakarta, the shift was noticeable — the way people here read labels, ask questions, choose materials. A culture that treats what goes into and onto your body as something worth caring about. I absorbed that slowly, and it stuck.

It made me think back to Milo. Not just what he ate, but everything around him — the plastic bowl that stained no matter how often I cleaned it, the cheap gear that wore down fast, the products we never questioned because nobody told us to. He was an active, healthy dog. The life we gave him was full. But the products around him didn't reflect that.

SteelPaws exists because your pet's environment matters as much as their lifestyle. Clean materials. No porous surfaces, no biofilm, no shortcuts. Products built to actually last — because a dog like Milo deserves gear as good as the life he lived.

§06 — Common Questions

Before you specify.

Is stainless steel really more hygienic than plastic?

Yes — it's the reason SteelPaws exists. Plastic and glazed ceramic are porous: everyday scratches trap moisture, food residue, and bacteria, building a biofilm you can't fully scrub out. 304-grade stainless steel is non-porous, so there's no microscopic surface for bacteria to take hold. It's why commercial kitchens and medical instruments are steel, not plastic.

Will my dog or cat actually use a metal bowl or fountain?

Almost always within a day or two. Stainless is taste-neutral and holds no odour — unlike plastic, which absorbs and re-releases smells over time. If a pet hesitates at first, place the fountain beside their old bowl for a day; the moving water usually does the convincing.

How do I clean it? Is it dishwasher safe?

The 304 steel components are dishwasher safe at any temperature. The high-density polymer base on the Static Bowl is hand-wash only. For the Kinetic Fountains, rinse the pump roughly every two weeks and swap the carbon filter every three to four weeks to keep the flow clean.

Do the fountains need to be plugged in?

Yes — the Kinetic Fountains circulate and oxygenate water with a quiet, low-voltage pump, so they need a power source nearby. The Static Bowl and Elevated Feeder are completely non-electric.

Will the bowl or feeder tip over or slide?

No. The Static Bowl sits on a weighted, high-density base built to resist displacement, even with an enthusiastic eater. The Elevated Feeder uses an anti-tip tripod geometry for stability at its raised height.

Does the water really stay cooler?

Steel passively dissipates heat, holding water a few degrees below room temperature — around a 4°C difference — with no electronics or ice. Cooler water also slows bacterial growth between cleans.

Is it suitable for both cats and dogs?

The bowls and fountains suit cats and dogs of most sizes. The Elevated Feeder is engineered around canine postural alignment, so it's best matched to medium and large dogs rather than cats.

Where are your products made?

SteelPaws is designed in Melbourne and manufactured in China, built to our 304-grade material specification. We set the standard — the steel grade, the finishes, the tolerances — and work with manufacturers capable of meeting it. It's the same model behind most premium hardware: designed in one place, produced where the expertise and capacity exist to make it well.

What are your shipping, returns, and warranty terms?

Free international express shipping on orders over $80 (10–15 business days). 30-day returns on unused items, in line with Australian Consumer Law. Electronic pump modules carry a 12-month replacement warranty; structural steel defects are exchanged on sight. Full detail is in the Shipping & Warranty panel in our footer.
